Gateway JUG
As hard as it is to believe today, in the late '90s, it wasn't at all obvious that Java would be the great success that it is today. In 1999, our founder formed the Gateway JUG, one of two Java User Groups in the St. Louis area. Its mission was to promote and educate Java. He ran the Gateway JUG through 2012.
Alas, by 2012, Java had secured its place as a ubiquitous enterprise programming language, so it was time for Gateway JUG to be disbanded.
Since 2013, there have been other groups the Objistics founder was involved with, including the Dallas MUG's Groovy & Grails Special Interest Group, a Dart/Flutter group in St. Louis, and others.
